A big hello! And, have you seen my tent?

Hi there! And welcome to Where’s My Tent?

My name is Jessi, and I’m known as a bit of a “festival fanatic”. I’ve been going to UK festivals every summer since 2007, and I feel like it’s time to put my passion to paper (so to speak!) and hopefully give both newbies and festival veterans a few tips and insights into a world of music, glitter, mud, tents and incredible memories.

A little bit about me and my festival obsession

I’m 28 at the time of writing, I live in London, and I work in the social media & creative industry. My first festival was Reading in 2007, with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Razorlight and Nine Inch Nails headlining. I was 18, had just finished my A Levels, and like many others, had my first dip into festivals as a way to blow off steam and celebrate with my friends. The following year I went to Download, and returned again to Reading. Three festivals in, and I’d fallen in love with the vibe; where everyone was friendly, the music was mind-blowing, and the nights were for exploring and dancing until the early hours. Here’s a (horrible!) throwback to 2008 Reading me:

In 2009… my world changed. I once again returned to Download and Reading, but I was also convinced by some friends to buy a Glastonbury ticket. At the time, I was a self-professed rock chick and I judged festivals by line up alone. I remember not being as excited for Glasto as I was for the other two. Boy was I wrong. You’ll come to see over the course of this blog that Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts has become my one true love, my yearly pilgrimage, my forever home. I’ve been every year since. It made me realise that the line up is responsible for only 20% of what makes a festival. Now I go for the magic, the atmosphere, the people, the artwork…

There’s a feeling I only get at festivals; of freedom, fun, and being myself. Now every year I look forward to another summer of madness, and I hope to share some of that with you in this blog! I’ll be writing reviews, guides and insights into all things festival related. Maybe I’ll see you in a field this summer!

Oh, and do let me know if you find my tent! 😉
