Burnt Soul has long been a huge favourite here at Where’s My Tent? with Jessi feeling her absolute best in skin tight lycra – something she would have never thought she’d say! But genuinely the cut and design of Burnt Soul set them apart, and make all bodies feel like superheroes. They even designed the outfits for the reboot of the Gladiators that just aired this year!

I’m here today though to talk to you about their new and improved Design Lab! Get ready to spend hours tinkering, because this the custom web app in which you can mix and match fabrics on their available custom items. Are you a fan of clashing prints? Monochrome? Iridescent?
Start by choosing the base item that you want to customise. There are 20 different options here, from shorts to bodysuits, swims to catsuits. You then enter your size options (including if they have longer or shorter body/legs), and your actual sizes in CM/IN – this is to ensure you get the right size first time, as there are no returns on the Design Lab items. If the very knowledgeable Burnt Soul team feel the size you chose and your measurements don’t quite match, they will contact you to discuss, as this could depend on the stretchiness of the material you chose, and your desired tightness/fit.
Once you’ve entered your item & size choices, you click the design button and the Design Lab will load in your browser. This is where you can play with choices to your heart’s content! If you’re anything like me, you will spend hours coming up with different combinations, screenshotting them, sending them to friends in various WhatsApp group chats, and even running polls to help you narrow down your choice!
For example, on a catsuit, you can choose different fabrics on each of the: main fabric, top V, middle V, bottom V, leg flash, and binding. There are literally thousands of combinations, so you know you are getting something perfect and unique!
All of their printed fabrics are made from recycled materials, and they have 9 – yes 9! – new prints for their 2024 collection. All of these are available in the Design Lab to customise to your heart’s content! Along with single colour lycra and mesh, iridescents, snake prints, foils, and even some fancy patterned mesh too!
Burnt Soul invited me to play with their Design Lab and create my own custom. I had so much fun and almost couldn’t decide! But here is the design, some pics from the making of my custom from their studio in Bristol (UK made!), and my first try on while on holiday:
This catsuit joins my collection and is my 13th Burnt Soul piece! This one was gifted to me, and I’ve had one or two gifted before (thank you angels!) but I genuinely love this brand and have bought many pieces in between! They are the backbone of my festival wardrobe, and the comfort and style is the absolute best of the best.
